Leadership
People often ask us 'how do you fellowship without a leader; everyone will want to speak out of turn and chaos will reign?'.
It is quite easy if we live esteeming one another better than ourselves *Phil 2:3*. We will not speak while someone else is speaking and we would not talk for so long only puffing up ourselves with our own knowledge.
We are prepared to look at the scriptures and see exactly and in the correct context what is being said and not adding our own interpretation to it. We can reason/discuss together (meaning the whole group of people from the youngest to the oldest) any biblical issues and research it thoroughly without reading some other book or someone else’s interpretation of it.
With this mode in place, there is no condemnation; no pulling down of a person and no hierarchy to say that it should be this or that. For there is no condemnation for those who live in Christ Jesus *Rom 8:1* – the fruit of the Spirit is- love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, meekness, temperance and faith against such there is no law. *Gal 5:22* –LOVE EDIFIES.
In most of his letters, Paul says he has authority to speak God’s word *2 Cor 10:8*. God had given him this authority, not man. It did not mean that the entire word was only ever spoken by Paul.
Everybody from the youngest to the oldest can and really must speak and share in church gatherings so that all may hear of what God is saying to them in their life. This includes sharing from the scripture if they feel led to.
We have experienced this where even a 6 year old boy has had something on his heart by the Holy Spirit.
Our real leadership has come from the Holy Spirit and we have seen the fulfillment of what Isaiah referred to as “a child shall lead them” *Isa 11:6*.
This may become lengthy in time especially once the house community has grown to about 40 or so. It may well be that this is a time to have another house to house group emerge from within.
God is about families, not people in isolation. He wants those who are isolated to be gathered into families and communities. How can we care for our families or individuals if we do not spend time with them? God isn't always defining leaders for this task but is giving this into the hands of every believer. All to often the accepted church system assigns care and pastoral work to chosen and sometimes 'elected' leaders. We have robbed ourselves of Godly dignity and identity whenever we do this.
